Territory Day Fireworks - July 1

Public fireworks display in Anzac Park - you can go to the park and watch, or from the top of Anzac Hill.  You can buy your own fireworks only that day - but you can use them for weeks afterwards (not sure if that's legal but people do).  Goes for 15 mins (longer than Melbourne's NY Eve).

Taken from the park, about 50m from the place they're set off.

The Show - July 5

Spent the day at the show...  Beautiful day, a bit chilly out of the sun.  Kleenheat had a stand - the boss took a gas bottle to our home.  Native plants club - bought a book for G, author autographed it for us.  Picked up info sheets for parks around the place from the Nat parks stand.

Craft and cookery - a few examples.  Age 9 and under cake decoration is pretty cool.  Those biscuits made me hungry.

Domestic birds - had some native ones too but looked too sad in their cages.

A small sample of the crowded entertainment area.  That thing right at the top has about 20 people in it - way too scary for us!

The 'Grand' Parade - there wasn't much more of it than this, I got a photo of every category!  Miss Showgirl 2013.

The Ghan

Twice a week in winter and once a week in summer, the Ghan runs from Adelaide to Darwin and back again.  Passengers have around 4 hours in Alice in which to do whirlwind tours.  The most whirlwind is the helicopter flight!

About 1/3 of the Ghan, at Alice Springs railway station.
